I’ve owned cats my entire life. Growing up, they were a staple in my parents' house, and when I moved out four years ago, my fiancé and I got two of our very own for the first time: Pizza and Wally.
We’re a military family, so we move around quite a bit. And yes, moving with cats can be challenging, often making us selective about what we bring from place to place. Over the last few years, we’ve tried out countless cat gadgets and gizmos—some hits (as you'll see below), but most were misses, at least for us.
Here’s a list of our all-time favorite cat products that both we and our cats can’t live without. (Okay, maybe that’s a bit dramatic, but seriously, these products are amazing!) I wanted to create an honest, unbiased list from the perspective of a real cat owner, hoping to help others find the best products out there.
So, here they are, in no particular order:
1. Mau Cento Cat Tree
This cat tree is amazing. Not only is it super aesthetic (we get compliments all the time), but our cats are obsessed with it. Mau offers several different cat tree styles on their website to suit just about anyone’s taste and home decor. I love how seamlessly this cat tree blends in with our space while simultaneously elevating our interior design.
Their products are not just stunning but also high-quality and, in my opinion, well worth the investment. Plus, they offer a variety of replacement parts, including repair rope for the scratching post—perfect for when you need to refresh the tree without mismatching parts.
Our cats sleep on this tree every day and use it as a scratching post too. Check out Mau Pets Cento Cat Tree here!
Ooooo big yawn!
2. Litter-Robot
If you own a cat, you’ve probably heard of self-cleaning litter boxes—and trust me, this one lives up to the hype. We have one of the older models (Litter-Robot 3), but it’s still been a game changer. Gone are the days of scooping the litter box every couple of days! With the Litter-Robot, we just change the waste collection bag once a week or when the indicator light shows it’s full.
3. Pet Libro Water Fountain & Automatic Feeder
I’ve gone through about four different cat water fountains, three of which were plastic. After just a few days, they’d get gross and start growing mold. It was so frustrating having to unplug and scrub them clean constantly. Not to mention, they’d clog up and overflow at least once a week.
After some research, I learned that stainless steel is more hygienic and less prone to mold. I immediately ordered the stainless-steel PetLibro fountain and haven’t looked back since. Save yourself the headache (and money) and go for a stainless-steel water fountain like this one.
Their automatic cat feeder is equally awesome. You can pre-program mealtimes, which means one less thing to worry about daily. It’s also a lifesaver if you work long days or take weekend trips.

4. Llama Cat Scratcher
I’ve bought an astronomical number of cat scratchers over the years. The biggest issue is that most of them topple over when our cats scratch them, thanks to their flimsy bases.
Not only is this llama cat scratcher adorable (they also have sloth and unicorn versions), but it’s the only one that stays upright and actually works as designed! It’s the perfect size, and our cats love it. We recently had to repair the rope, which was super easy to do with some sisal rope and hot glue.

5. One for Pets Portable Double Kennel
If you frequently road trip with your cats or plan to take one soon, you need this. As I mentioned earlier, we move a lot, which means lots of car travel with the kitties. This carrier fits perfectly across the back seat and offers plenty of room for both of our cats—it could even fit up to four. It also has straps in the back to buckle it in securely with a seatbelt.
Another great feature is that it can be split into two smaller carriers. For vet visits, both cats can comfortably share one of the smaller carriers. Every time we go to the vet, I get questions about where I found this kennel—it truly makes life so much easier!

So, there you have it—my top five (well, technically six) favorite cat products from a real-life cat owner. I hope this list helps, and if you try any of these, I hope you love them as much as we do. Thanks for reading!
